Huskies Compete at USCAA Nationals!
UNION TOWN, PA - - The Word of Life Huskies Men's and Women's Cross Country made some noise at their first USCAA National Championships appearance on Sunday. In the Women's competition, the Huskies would take 4th place as a team shared with Paul Smith's College with 95 pts (1st place SUNY ESF (NY) 23 PTS, 2nd place Johnson & Wales (NC) with 88 PTS, and 3rd place Christendom College (VA) 92 PTS). Individually, Angelina Pusateri would take 4th place which would earn her 1st Team USCAA All-American. Marlene Bowers would take 30th, Jaslove Wood took 33rd, Lauren Bowers 36th, Annika Doyle 38th, and Alexis Pape finished 48th.
On the Men's side, The Huskies also took 4th place with 107 points (SUNY ESF (NY) to 1st place with 25 points, Johnson & Wales (NC) placed 2nd with 46 points, and Paul Smith's (NY) took 3rd with 85 points.) Individually, the Huskies placed well with Jared Templin finishing in 19th place, Daniel Bubar right behind him in 20th place, Derek Tewksbury 22nd, Tyler Meyer 26th, Joshua Sepe 36th, David Goodwin 39th, Thomas Koch 51st, Dawson Foreman 53rd, Xavier Eugene 54th, and Jaden Maxwell 75th.
With the awards below, we also want to congratulate Coach Kyle Hayden and Assistant Coach Gideon Paris on a tremendous 2023 season. In their 1st year on official Cross-Country and both in their 1st year as coaches. The Huskies did an amazing job this year on and off the course. During the awards ceremony, Head Coach Kyle Hayden was named the 2023 USCAA Women's Cross-Country Coach of the Year. Hayden is the first Huskies' Coach to win a USCAA Major Award.
We also want to congratulate Angelina Pusateri for becoming the first Word of Life Athlete to win a 1st Team All-American Selection from the USCAA.
The USCAA also announced the 2023 USCAA Awards for the year.
