Huskies Open 2024 Fall Sports Season

Huskies have begun the 2024 Fall Sports season this past week. Here are some highlights from Cross-Country, Soccer, & Volleyball.

 

Cross-Country

On the Men's side, all seven guys ran in the top 50, with Daniel Bubar taking 17th place and six of the runners placing in the top 40. The Huskies took 6th place as a team.

On the Women's side

The Huskies placed 5th as a team and were led by Angelina Pusateri placing 10th overall.

 

Men's Soccer

On Tuesday, September 3, the Huskies hosted Clinton C.C. to open the season. The Huskies would claw their way to a 3-2 win with Joe Mathews scoring 2 goals and 1 assist. Christopher Marra would also score 1 goal and Raphael Cournoyer and Jesse Jenkins each recorded 1 assist.

On Saturday, the Huskies won on a cold rainy day over NHTI 3-1. Joe Mathews scored 2 more goals to make it a total of 4 in the new season. Cyleek Zaimoff would score the final goal of the day. Raphael Cournoyer recorded 6 saves as well helping the Huskies to a 2-0 start.

 

Women's Soccer

The Huskies opened their season on Saturday, and while they put up a good fight, the NHTI Lynx took the opening game 3-0. Ryleigh Gangarossa would go on to record 17 saves for Word of Life.

 

Volleyball

The Huskies opened Wednesday, September 4 at Albany College of Pharmacy. The Huskies put up a good fight but the Panthers would win 3-1 (22-25, 21-25, 25-22, 21-25).

On Saturday, the Huskies welcomed Penn State Scranton for the Huskies' home opener. The Huskies dominated with a 3-0 sweep (25-1, 25-7, 25-5). The Huskies were led by Kate Hansen & Taitum Dunnick in the Service Department, and there were 18 Service Aces each.
