
POTTERSVILLE, N.Y.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team took down the Huskies of Word of Life Bible Institute (WOLBI) 76-43 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) action on Friday, Nov. 22.
The Seawolves started on a 13-0 run to open the game and never looked back. SMCC put together a 38-22 advantage at the break and amassed its best quarter total in the third pouring 23 points to run away with the victory.
Five reached double-digit scoring led by Ashley Mullen's (Oakland, Maine) 15. The rookie guard knocked down 7-18 shooting and added seven boards and six assists to her stat line. Sophomore captain Halle Tripp (Searsmont, Maine) and first-year Jade Trueman (Sanbornville, N.H.) each threw in 11 points; Taylor Renna (Pembroke, N.H.) and captain Hannah Thorsen (Kittery, Maine) came off the bench to combine for 21.
WOLBI's Clementine Danehy logged a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
SMCC gets back to .500 at 3-3 overall, improving to 2-1 in league play. WOLBI slips to 1-3, 0-3 YSCC.
The Seawolves turn around to play another YSCC opponent in Paul Smith's College on Saturday, Nov. 23. Tip-off in Paul Smith's, N.Y. is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
